All Things Considered, Pirates in OK Shape

Few teams, if any, have been forced to deal with the early season issues that Clint Hurdle and the 2017 Pirates have been dealt.

However, after looking at all that has gone wrong and then look where the team sits on May 3rd, I’d say things could be a lot worse.

During spring training, the team found out that their starting 3rd baseman and likely cleanup hitter Jung Ho Kang┬áhad legal issues and couldn’t get out of his home country of Korea.

Pirates Place Bastardo on Disabled List

Antonio Bastardo is no longer on the Pirates 25-man roster.

No, the team didn’t release him, instead the left-hander has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.

This afternoon, the team announced that Bastardo is going to be sidelined with a left-quad strain.

Bastardo has been the weak link in the Pirates bullpen this season compiling an ERA of 16.20 in 6 2/3 innings pitched.
