Glasnow Wins Final Spot in Rotation

In the end, Pirates management decided to go with potential.

Following the last night’s game in Montreal, Clint Hurdle announced that rookie Tyler Glasnow had won the final spot in the Opening Day 2017 starting rotation over Trevor Williams.

Good news for a Williams is that he will be coming North with the team as he’ll be a member of the bullpen along with veteran Wade LeBlanc. Williams deserved to make the team considering he was one of the team’s better pitchers this spring.

Will the Pirates Rotation be Good Enough?

If you ask Pirate fans the biggest thing that worries them about the 2017 team, most will say the rotation isn’t good or deep enough to truly compete.

Most believe Clint Hurdle has a couple of strong options at the top but the bottom of the rotation is lacking and there’s little depth.

Is that accurate? It might be but I believe the performance of Tyler Glasnow can change that narrative.

Thoughts With 8 Days Till The Opener

We’re eight days away from the start of the 2017 Pirates opener vs. the Red Sox in Fenway Park.

As with most team in MLB,  the Bucs have a bunch of questions entering the seasons.

Will the Pirates be able to improve upon their 2016 season of 78-83?  Who will play third base? Will Andrew McCutchen be able to regain his MVP form? Do they have enough starting pitching depth? Who will Clint Hurdle’s closer be?
