The 2017 All-Star selections will be announced this Sunday night on ESPN. It’s assumed that closer Felipe Rivero will be the Pirates lone representative but a national writer has other thoughts. Buster Olney from ESPN doesn’t agree with that line of thinking and has selected Josh Harrison as the NL’s starter at second base. For the season, Harrison is currently hitting .296 with 9 homeruns and 27 RBI’s. Harrison won’t be the starter because he won’t win the fan vote but could he get selected as a reserve? By the way, Dave Schoenfield and Jerry Crasnick from ESPN selected Harrison as their All-Star reserve second baseman. Olney and Crasnick both selected Rivero as a All-Star relief pitcher while Bradford Doolittle named Ivan Nova as an All-Star selection.
